Vanessa Cooper, a native of Hampshire, began painting in her early teens and pursued her art education at Portsmouth University. Her work was first showcased to the public in 1987.
Known for her vivid use of colour and imaginative style, Cooper draws inspiration from nature and everyday family life—depicting scenes of forests, gardens, animals, and children. She once noted, “It’s always the colour that captures me.” Her art is infused with both a playful humour and a strong sense of sensuality, giving it a distinctive energy.
Though often described as a ‘naïve’ artist, Cooper primarily works in oils and other mediums, carefully refining her compositions through repeated sketching to distil each scene to its essential elements.
